Unsolicited Advice

As a young adult .. or lets say as young women we are often placed in circumstances that change us, tame us and all in one we end up developing a fear , trauma or hatred due to these ” Circumstances”. I’d like to believe that these circumstances are portals in which every time we pass a realm we enter a new dimension. The likelihood of enjoying each realm is often influenced by the time you spend it in.

Living life fast, has always been my experience.

In many different ways, I began to self reflect and the first step for me was forgiveness. Learn to forgive yourself , give yourself time to learn your Algorithm. I always grew up extremely spiritual, super aware of what I put out there will come right back.. but of course drugs, alcohol can block that channel. When we allow ourselves to be consumed by negativity we are allowing our most prized possession to slip right out of our hands .. “time”. Pay attention to your breathing in every situation ( literally) because when we are upset we don’t breathe consciously, find tranquility within your battles allows your mind to stimulate each detail of the positives and the negatives, sit in silence don’t be scared to listen to your intuition. Not the angry one but the one telling you to calm that ass down.

Negativity can only penetrate you; if you let it fuck you, take control of who you are and who you are working to become.

I’ve developed habits in order to treat myself and not cheat myself. Meditating isn’t some hippie shit or weird PERIOD it is resetting yourself, sort of like putting down your Iphone, turning off Netflix and clearing your mind. Being alone with your thoughts at first can seem tough. I remember being 13 and getting my first boost mobile key up I swore I would never let go. In a era where we no longer read or write, putting your phone down seems a bit drastic.. but let me tell you it is totally necessary.At first it felt uncomfortable because I did not appreciate some much needed alone time, I now naturally take a moment when I am in need of some me time and I zone myself. Cleansing your body can be challenging especially when a Bodega breakfast sandwich used to be my go to. However, after my first experience my body craved kindness and the Detox treated me kindly.

No I am not a vegan. I do recognize that my body every now and then needs a break from all the dead animals in order to reset. I don’t eat pork because that shit is toxic for your body and your intestines. It is the top unclean meat that we are accustomed to eat.

Manifesting what I want for Myself at the present moment and what I will have for the future really helped set boundaries and create goals, while living each moment as if it were to last an eternity.

Putting aside everything that I’ve learned online , I discovered one thing on my own. I now release my emotions by understanding that it is not a sign of weakness but a sign of being alive.

Setting boundaries with family, friends & romantic partner became a part of my journey and with being Puerto Rican & Dominican you can only imagine how that went. ENERGY transfers are REAL. I am not telling you to stop answering your abuelas phone call I am simply saying that your abuela should give you the time to become your own person without constantly draining you with her ideas of what you should or should not be doing. The idea of having to “save” your family at times puts the weight of the world on your shoulders. If you notice that every conversation in any relationship you are in is stressing you out then perhaps you need to set some boundaries. Don’t allow others to have expectations of you without your approval.

I took a Instagram & Facebook break for sometime. Although the apps are great to keep in touch and network ,I had no confidence to show my work. I was in many toxic relationships that served me no purpose but that was only a sign of how I felt within myself. By 2022 I was able to feel proud of myself, acknowledging that every step I’ve taken has been alone, every accomplishment with the support of my sisters and a select few. The thought that no one would listen to what I had to say scared me but let’s face it I’ve been talking to myself since 2012 almost a decade later I decided to share my thoughts with the world.

Working out at least 3-5 times a week, embracing my hair, gettingggg fine ( my definition of fine) and every now and then stepping out were a huge part of my self care. I’d occasionally escaped to Puerto Rico to catch a break during the pandemic . But once I started to create my own sacred space, building up confidence I no longer needed an escape.

In many of my previous post , I speak about battling anxiety , depression and thanks to that; I tend to loose focus. It’s hard for me to commit to a long routine, I started my journey to healthy with at home intense body workouts , my favorite being the 20 minute kettle bell work out ! For the days where I want to squeeze in a workout and want to feel it all ! I subscribed to Lilly Sabri and her 10 minute 14 day total body loss combined with her 8 minute booty work out do the trick for me! It’s extremely intense with modifications if needed and although her body does not reflect mine I’ve been effectively using these techniques to get me fit and help shed the unnecessary weight without feeling stuck to a workout routine. During my work from home hours I take 5-10 minute of every other hour I choose a routine and I get into it.

On the weekends in which I party a little harder than usual. I make sure to still treat my body kindly. I’ve discovered the wonders of Ashwagandha, it serves me justice especially when I need a pick me up , I discovered the actual powder when I was having health related issues in 2017. I became a fan ever since I learned that it serves its purpose for inflammation and it lowers blood sugar and fat.

I often sleep with my faja sounds insane but it helps me ( personally) get my 8 hours in for at-least 3/4 nights. One of the many cool attributes my grand mother passed along were my thunder thighs but not too far behind … what waist?

I always have to make sure that I cleanse myself & allow all the toxins, energies and waste from the week leave my body for a reset. It’s important to enjoy yourself in which ever way you deem appropriate however it is equally important to set structure to allow ourselves to refuel. When I disconnect to meditate it is one of the most rewarding priceless gifts I can give myself. I acknowledge my body, where it is, where it is going.

I remind myself that this is a moment to listen to my body in order to satisfy her needs.

We are not all dancing to the same rhythm. I started to notice that keeping up the pace was no longer for me when in fact it isn’t for anyone of us. Learning to acknowledge that my melody blends, takes time and patience, so don’t be to hard on yourself.
